Since I was young, my lips have always needed extra moisture, especially in the winter months. They crack easily and become dry or inflamed if I don’t moisturise them properly. Shop bought lip scrubs and treatments used to be tempting, but so many of them have been far too harsh for my sensitive skin (hello, allergic reactions to random ingredients).
So, these days I go for prevention over the cure by making sure that my lips are always smooth and moisturised, which not only stops me reaching for lip balm every 2 minutes, but also helps my lips to look fuller and my lipstick to last longer.
After browsing Pinterest in the autumn, I got a few good ideas to make my own natural lip scrub. Whilst this recipe isn’t super-original or ground-breaking, it’s definitely life-changing.

I make a batch every 2 weeks by mixing all of these ingredients together and storing it in an airtight jar to keep it fresh:
1 tbsp pure solid coconut oil
1tsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp rose water
8 dried and edible rose petals
I use it every evening by taking a little on my forefinger and gently massaging the scrub in to my lips, before wiping off with a cotton wool pad soaked in warm water.
